How does click attribution work for Partner links from pages and links provided by the platform to partners?
Specifically the pages for partner signups at https://go.downpayment.gift/ and the links which look like https://start.downpayment.gift/?
What is click attribution?
click attribution refers to the policy the software implements for tracking which partner is asided to a new user signup.
Last Click attribution
We follow a Last Click attribution policy between Partner links.
That is, if Partner1 sends a user to signup 3 weeks ago and they do not sign up. Today the same user on the same device/browser is sent to sign up by Partner2. Partner2 will be attributed the sign up.
Cookie attribution Policy
What is the user returns directly to downpayment.gift and completes the signup and not the Partner provided link?
The main site at downpayment.gift will read the referral cookie and attribute the signup to the Partner, based on Last Click attribution policy. (in other words, the cookie is overwritten by the last Partner link the user sees)
Cookie length: 180 days
Why not lifetime cookie? 180 days or 6 months reduces the probability of orphaned signups. We elected to have the cookie not exceed the annual subscription period.
